Dr Tunde Olasege
Postdoctoral Research Fellow; Institute for Molecular Bioscience
Dr Babatunde (Tunde) Olasege is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Yengo Lab at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience, The University of Queensland (UQ). He holds a PhD in Quantitative Genetics from UQ (2023), where he developed an innovative statistical framework (Correlation Scan) to identify genomic regions that drive or antagonise genetic correlations between traits. His current research focuses on developing methods to detect and correct ascertainment bias in large-scale biobank studies as well as the transferability of polygenic risk scores across diverse ancestries.
Dr Julia Sidorenko
Supervisor and Principal Research Technician; Institute for Molecular Bioscience
Julia Sidorenko is a senior research assistant in the Yengo Lab. Julia has received PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of Tartu, Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, Tartu, Estonia, a home of Estonian Biobank, where she started working as an analyst of Estonian Biobank data. Julia joined Peter Visscher’s group, (and later the Yengo Lab) in 2016. Julia has led and collaborated on multiple projects, including analyses of genomic data from major biobanks and smaller consortia, focusing on responsible and reproducible research.
Dr Huanwei Wang
Adjunct Fellow; Institute for Molecular Bioscience
Dr Huanwei Wang worked in Yengo group as a postdoctoral research fellow at Institute for Molecular Bioscience (IMB) at the University of Queensland (UQ) from 2021 to 2024. Currently, he holds an adjunct position at IMB/UQ and still working with Professor Loïc Yengo on the project using genomic sequencing data to estimate the heritability of ultra-rare variants on human complex traits. He is also a research officer working with Associate Professor Matthew Law and Professor Stuart MacGregor in QIMR Berghofer since 2024 on the genetic analysis of skin cancer. Before that, he finished his PhD with Professor Jian Yang and Associate Professor Allan McRae at IMB/UQ from 2017-2021.
